Gravel Drives
Gravel drives are not complicated and ther isn't a need to know 'how to install one'. It's a very simple process of covering an existing drive or digging out to make space for new gravel.
The gravel most suited for drives are the harder more dense types such as flint which can be quite colourful or the softer grades such as cotswold and slate found in a variety of colours.
Pea gravel is another type but unlike the others doesn't compact well and instead 'rolls and mixes' but invariably lets you know when you have visitors.
This is a great gravel cover to have if security is an issue and is also good for paths and walkways.
It's not only driveways that benefit from using gravel and are attractive ground cover as a break between hard and soft landscaping.
Maintenance is easy, just rake or brush over to maintain that crisp clean look.
You might want to mix different types of gravel in your landscaping projects such as forming a 'stream' of slate running through a bed of colourful flint, carefully placing buried terra cotta pots and weathered logs producing an old river bed scene.
Most garden centres and builders merchants will provide you with various gravels although the latter will be the most cost effective when buying in quantities.
An easy to lay and easy to maintain product that requires little knowledge or expertise.
