Driveways

Driveways are an immense and complex business because generally it's too big for diy and is a sizeable investment for most households which must be completed effectively.

Pavers would normally be used made of pressed and coloured concrete or clay, both of which are laid onto sand or fine aggregate, compressed down to form a firm and compact finish.

The only drawback is that weeds and growth can collect between the joints due to the blocks being pushed together without being permanently bonded, although this method done correctly will give good service for 20+ years.

Gravel is attractive and the new clay paving tiles offer a different form of construction as they are bonded to a solid surface and jointed flush on completion.
The same can be acheived with brick or granite but comes at a price.

Concrete offers a good option which is quick, strong and will last for many years. The colour will generally revert to grey except when installing pattern imprinted concrete which has a long lasting colour.

All drives can be rejuvenated with sealer that can effectively seal without changing the colour and shade, or a sealer which enhances or darkens the original colour repelling most things that would stain or tarnish your driveways or paths.
