Building

When building is incorporated into landscaping there are not the restrictions imposed on landscapers as there would be for other trades carrying out regulated construction for the home.

My advice is to choose a landscaping specialist by recommendation or at least “check out” some past installations to verify the quality of the work , the obvious areas to look out for are the longevity of patios, structures and paving that have had time to mature.

As much credence should be given to the planning, basework, quality of preparation as to the finished product.

Areas where true skills are required are brickwork, stonework, patios, drives and garden outbuildings that require a foundation to support its weight.

Other more complicated structures would be raised decking, verandas, stone, brick arches and driveways to name a few which need a fair degree of calculation to ascertain the weight, stress and stability of structures.

Another area of consideration is the building of drainage required for new lawns, patios and inaccessible areas once placement of a permanent feature has been completed.
