Brickwork

Many variations of brickwork will be incorporated into landscape design and garden design. Landscaping ideas often show some construction in raised beds, steps and retaining walls.

Patios, unless completely flat to the ground will incorporate some degree of brick support, particularly if ramps and steps are necessary.

It’s one of those jobs that are best suited to the professionals, although I’ve seen many good jobs completed by competent diy’ers. As a time served brickie I think I’m qualified to pass judgement and would gladly praise the efforts of those who at least try.

Walls are normally a repetition of alternating courses, repeating courses 1 and 2 until the full height of a wall is reached. Blockwork is similar, however brickwork and stonework are skills which uses both knowledge and practice to achieve an acceptable standard to be classed as facework.

It's made to look easy when you’re laying a thousand a day and thankfully I’m well passed those days where quantity has been taken over by quality and my landscaping incorporates the minimum requirement to compliment the garden design.
